And, of course, the advent of 'AI' generated code is that young developers, with no experience to build on, will increasingly fail to develop necessary skills to function *without* 'AI' assistance. There will be now 'up-and-coming' developers to join those who've developed their craft in the days when developers had to *understand stuff* at a basic level in order to make progress. Yeah, bashing heads against tables is crucial to learning what *not* to do.

I say all this as a scout master who has encountered legions of young folks (I'd guess the vast majority of that generation) who simply can't imagine a world without GPS & Google Maps. Why would it be useful to read a map? They can't even figure out how to unfold it, much less orient it usefully. If...
