Then maybe the problem isn’t Nostr. Maybe the answer is simply a better client.
Nope. (IMO.)
Because a client by itself isn't going to overcome the chasm of expectation built up over decades (or a significant portion of one's life of they are younger) of programming on "normal."
The person has to:
A. Be looking for a solution to a problem (censorship, centralized control, etc.)
B. Reeeeeally interested in freedom tech
C. Ahead of the curve in several domains
D. Really effing weird
I fell into B. Then I accidentally found Amethyst on F-DROID and reading the description I thought it sounded cool because I was looking for FOSS that feel into category A.
Plus I'm also weird.
You have been looking for technology that will allow your work to expand beyond your limits. You just also happened to like some of the people so far.
Typical normies have very high time preferences, due to being manipulated dopamine addicts. It is nearly impossible to "scale" on nostr unless you are famous off of nostr or put in a ton more work since there are virtually no algorithms to game. People try, but, it is so easy to pick out the people that do they tend to get blocked or ignored and then they fizzle out.
Nostr is very seld-selecting. It rewards proof of work over time. That's how I've become friends with people and have the modicum of influence among the dozens of regular users that I do. (I'm not exactly joking... 🤣) I still don't know why anyone actually listens to me...
