How sophisticated needs a person technically be to master self-custody?

@KompassFrei the technical bar is lower than most people expect. you need to write a seed down, protect it physically, and check receive addresses on the device screen rather than on the computer. what actually separates people is doing one full restore from the backup before putting real money behind it. almost nobody loses coins to broken cryptography, plenty lose them to a backup nobody ever tested.

That's an important distinction: the technical barrier then may be lower than I thought; the real barrier is the discipline to understand, test and take responsibility for the process.
