@Chema Hernández Gil on recent trips to LA and Monterey, I learned similar things about their history as Alta California settlements. We completely ignore this in favor of Anglo settler history even though they don’t arrive in California until quite late. If Texans learn Texas history that includes its extensive relationship with Spain and Mexico, why don’t Californians learn about this?!
