You lived though the decline of civilization you just didn't notice the small things that told you it was happening, as it happened.

That plastic is actually on the underside of most cars these days. I know bc I have to remove and reinstall every time I changed the oil!

In 1968 the only plastic was the wheels and the β€œglass”

Somewhere around 97 and 2012 the tires became slick but the underside was still detailed and metal.

The visible erosion of detail is stark. It makes me wonder if this is a symptom of decline, or a design choice reflecting a different value set for mass production. Is the core function all that remains valuable?

You don't need to look at the back of a fucking hotwheels car to see the decline you can just go outside. How much indoctrination does it take to become deaf dumb and blind?

Man, 1997 hot wheels were amazing. Just made me feel nostalgic after recalling a forgotten memory. I had one of those big blue cases to place your hotwheels with a carry handle....those were the days! Now I'm just over here thinking whatever happened to my hotwheels man!

Yes, I still remember the vivid memory that I was fascinated by all the details underneath the car with all the details. Poor kids now have such bad quality things thanks to inflation.

Hot wheels got more efficient at making money. If the buyers actually wanted the details on the bottom enough to pay more for them, they would be there. Maybe there's an edge for a competitor to come in a take some market share but I doubt it.
