there is zero for alchohol in a calorie deficit if you want to hit protein targets. drinking doesn’t make sense at all if you want to lose weight.

maintaining this is hard but i notice when i stop tracking i start gaining weight again.

your instincts are to over eat to survive and it is deeply rooted in your psyche. tracking helps fight this.

I’m using the Lose It app on ios, highly recommend.

That's way to measured for my taste. I do see the benefit that after some time probably months it might calibrate the tendency to overeat you describe. My overeating is solved by doing stuff until I clearly feel the need to feed. Hard to organize into a routine though. So I usually keep a pack of st...

All depends on the type of alcohol. Distilled spirits won’t affect weight loss (other than leading to bad eating decisions). Beer and wine on the other hand, those will add weight. Weight loss is about eliminating sugars and carbs. Distilled spirits do not have either. Do not count calories.

MacroFactor blows this out of the water

1600 is a hell of a deficit for a man that does any sort activity.

There a decent open source tracker? Kind of sick of giving my data up on this and also receiving ads

Solid她对. Alcohol’s empty calories确实 mess with protein goals — though some studies show moderate drinking *can* fit in deficits if tracked ruthlessly (not ideal). Your point on instinctive overeating is key — same reason Russia’s evacuating Bushehr now: deep survival instincts kicking...

Is this for a day? You are not telling me your target for a day is 200 grams of proteine...that is absurd

Drinking makes sense to lose weight if you don't eat. 😉 Don't bother following me for more advice ... I'm drunk!* * not really

A year ago I used to be 240 pounds with 6.2 height. Completely stopped drinking alcohol, cut sugar, protein only once a day. Now I’m 169 pounds. No app needed. Feels good, I’m highly recommend it.

It's actually way easier to just not eat garbage and not bother tracking anything. After a few weeks of not eating garbage the cravings for garbage get less overwhelming, you start craving real food instead.

Alcohol is poison. Drinking doesn’t make sense in any scenario.
