No wonder he prefers an aspect ratio closer to a square.
Widescreen formats don't let you *really* center everything, because the height isn't there to fill the bottom & top around whatever is centered.
To me, The Odyssey trailer looks great in its original aspect ratio, but kind of bland & crampe...

I think blocking and camera movement is way more important than framing. Really unusual framing comes across as tryhard and takes me out of the immersion of the movie.
