I’m one of those 12 word proponents. We can discuss IRL but look into the full systems’ entropy. SHA-256’s real collision security is 2^128. Pilling more entropy into the private key doesn’t...

Does this hold true under quantum? Yes, I understand the FUD that quantum computing currently is however let’s suspend that reality for a moment…

Say we wake up tmw and quantum computing has been solved. You’ve got a 128bit seed and I’ve got a 256bit seed… is one of us in an urgent rush to upgrade their set up and the other calmly going about their day? Or are both of us in the same predicament because of SHA-256 real collision security?

As I understand it ECDSA is broken by Quantum, not weakened. One can derive the private key from the public regardless of how much entropy you’ve included within the private key.
