so, the saga continues
my passport was taken under false pretenses "we need it for hospital documentation" which was a straight up lie, and they are refusing to give it back until i pay an outrageously inflated bill for questionable and bad service and are trying to coerce and bully me into acquiescence.
they really don't believe i have no resources. i am a foreigner, i must be rich, goes the logic in their minds, surely. surely they haven't thought for 5 seconds how a person with a legitimate medical condition of potential loss of limb, and maybe death, is happy to sit in the conditions they provide if they had more money? even a person who is all about principles would pay that if they could, to just get the fuck away from these toxic waste people.
yeah i fuckin totally would if i could, but i don't have hardly $500 worth, 300 in liquid cash in a bank account and about $200 worth of electronics that maybe i could sell at that rate, and be without any way to continue to earn any income.
they aren't legally allowed to use my passport as collateral for my bill payment. i have told the embassy about it and if they haven't done anything i can see before tomorrow afternoon i'm contacting the local police next.
as regards to the bill, i'm not signing anything that obliges me to pay for the absolute borderline health destroying "care" that i have been subjected to, as a condition of discharge. nope. i am leaving. fine, but i'm going over that document with a fine tooth comb. and i'm not even looking at it without the passport in my hands first, in the first place.
it's at that level. no passport, no conversation. that's my answer to every question at this point. they have no right to hold my passport.
it doesn't help their position, being that it's an administrative offense, worth about a week's worth of food for an average person, on top of the fact that i literally do not have the means or know anyone with the means to throw $3000 at scoundrels like this.
it's not like at this point even that money solves anything. until that passport is back in my hands, there is no deal, at all, at all. and even after that, no deal that concedes a debt that i've not accrued.
