After talking with my brother (@nprofile1q...), and in combination with your input, I've decided to remove "read" as one of the conditions of the trap.
I had a bypass password on the trap already, that is a phrase praising a demon lord, so I think I'll go a step further and make the rune display the phrase in plain language. Saying the phrase makes a character not trigger the trap, and immune to its effects until leaving its area, but saying it is praising a demon lord.
