You're a bit far north for solar, I would think. Bavaria has a similar limitation with wind power: we don't have much wind. But the national government tries to browbeat us into putting up more wind turbines, to meet their quotas.

The new energy minister suggested we stop paying the energy providers fees in exchange for their producing energy when nobody wants to buy it, and instead demand they figure out how to store or use excess energy. They fell on her like a pack of wild wolves. Predictable.

You would be surprised. We have 2 solar farms within easy driving distance, 1 of which I saw for the first time yesterday, and it is alongside a road that I drive down not infrequently. It also appears that a lot of the our wind turbine blades incorporate Asbestos.
