I do this mind trick on myself as often as I can where I imagine I’m an old man on my death bed and I have been given one day where I can go back in time and inhabit my young healthy body and play with my kids when they are small.

Try it.

If you can actually get yourself in the mindset of believing it’s real you will feel a gratitude so immense that it’s nearly psychedelic.

Impossible to describe.

Life is electric bro.

It’s an absolute gift.

Just hearing my daughter doing her homework in the other room is heaven.

Time is scarce.

Spend it wisely.

I would love to try this, but I don’t have a young and healthy body anymore

It's even more precious when it IS real. You'll fight for every moment. It impacts how you see, how you communicate, even what you eat.

The most precious good in our life is time. It doesn’t move forward, it doesn’t return! There is only the now!

Similar to the “I get to” trick I do, every time I find myself annoyed or avoiding doing something with my daughter that I don’t personally enjoy, just knowing that “I get to” do something that is meaningful to her, and/or brings her joy snaps me right outta my negative mindset. Wish I had...

Man, it’s so true. Especially when one of your parents passes and you closely live through it, it puts it all in perspective how your day will come too and how much none of this matters beyond the time you have with family/kids.

I do something very similar with my 3 year old daughter any time I’m stressed about work or focused on chores. She asks me to play hide and seek or “sit with her” to watch cartoons. That immediate unlocks something in me to release my stress and live in the moment. I know she will reach an age...

I do the same thing with my wife but in reverse. 🥁

Brother you may be as weird as me. 😆 I've done this. Few I've done sensory deprivation tanks and used to to rewire my brain... I needed it, don't really want to get into it. Anyway, they tell you do this or that as a meditation or try to astral project whatever. Your note reminds me of ...

I do that all the time too. Life is all about the deathbed perspective. My daughter likes to sing to herself when she does homework. I don't think she even knows that she's doing it.

I say this to my wife all the time, especially when we are going through a rough time with the young kids. If I was on my death bed and could only go back to this moment to be with my young kids, even when they are extremely difficult and emotionally draining, I have no doubt I would. My reaction to...

There is nothing like just “being around” when kids are young. The feeling of fulfillment and love is, yes, impossible to describe.

Highly recommend the movie “Click” with Adam Sandler.

I do it another way too. I imagine I am on my deathbed and my daughter is there with me. Then I ask myself how I want to foster my relationship with her in preparation for that moment.
ryanjordan · 61w
Then go watch “Click” your gratitude will sky rocket 😅

I'm regularly late to work 🤫 because my toddler wants to play right after waking up. Better to be late to work because you're playing with your kids than due to getting upset and them throwing a tantrum.... 😅 Either way you'll be late to work😂

Tx HODL, I don’t know what this protocol does, but it makes me feel we’re all in this living room, beautiful tech. One of the fondest memories I have of my kids is the first time I saw them discover the immensity of the world, just staring at the horizon. It brings joy and appreciation every t...

You're describing a technique that Eckart Tolle calls, "die before you die". He would say that time is not scarce because it doesn't exist. It's an abstract concept that, as bitcoiners, we are perfectly suited to grasp. The past is a cancelled cheque, the present is a promissory note. The pres...

there is another one you can also try: imagine being your 8 year old self, imagine being your 18 year old self and imagine being your 80 year old self. what would each on of them think about you now in this moment?
