I say all this as a scout master who has encountered legions of young folks (I'd guess the vast majority of that generation) who simply can't imagine a world without GPS & Google Maps. Why would it be useful to read a map? They can't even figure out how to unfold it, much less orient it usefully. If modern tech goes away suddenly, the only way we'd survive would be because a few of us old fuddy-duddies who still understand stuff are alive long enough to teach them...
