Syria was a better Nation than most Scandinavian Nations back then.
They had adopted a lot from the NSDAP.
Great homes offered to newly wedded couples. Free dentists, I think free healthcare, free school. Women had equal rights. Christians were not oppressed.
I once saw Assad (video) with no body guards just walk through a sea of people. When they realized who it was they lifted him up and he floated on their hands.
