Before getting Into what kind of diet you’re about to start, may I suggest understanding caloric deficit.

Eat less than you burn = lose weight.
Eat more than you burn = gain weight.

That’s physics. Build the foundation first. Argue about the decorations later.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I had a family friend who did this approach and it did not help him. This was before I knew about seed oils. I suspect it was the seed oils, and/or other chemical-industrial waste slop.

Taking the time to honestly figure out daily activity level is also important for determining daily caloric output. Lot of people are more sedentary than they think they are. Also, specifying if the food you're measuring is cooked or uncooked helps get a more accurate view of calories and macros.

If you ate 4000 calories a day of only fatty steak and did absolutely nothing exercise-wise you would lose weight and never be hungry. The same is not true of 4000 calories a day of oreos. We are not bomb calorimeters.
