Wore my first @West Major shirt yesterday. Here’s why I bought one:

I’ve seen the debasement of quality in clothing more than almost anything else. I bought clothes from the same store for years and watched as the price went up and the quality of the fit and weight of the materials went down.

This results in clothes that now feel cheap and have to be replaced constantly. They also deform easily and stretch out and the shape itself doesn’t last.

Much of this of course comes from inflation. I use to pay $35 for a pair of jeans that would last me for years. Now I pay $90 and it lasts less than 1 year before ripping and meanwhile the fit never maintained its shape and they weren’t as comfortable to wear as they used to be.

Brings me back to West Major. I’ve been constantly buying more expensive, higher quality products with bitcoin. I decided to do the same with this shirt.

It’s the most comfortable shirt I’ve ever worn. It’s thick. You can feel and see the quality. And yes, it’s expensive. But it’s a low time preference shirt in a world of high time preference clothing.

To offset inflation, we have had to start wearing literal plastic that is made by literal slaves. No thank you.

This shirt is awesome. If you’ve been on the fence about getting one, I highly recommend it.

Price statistics do adjust for quality, but by estimate: sampling an item catches the price tag, unit pricing catches a smaller package. Thinner fabric or a fit that stops holding barely registers at all. That is why the index can look calm while the shopper feels robbed. Both measure different thin...
