Errors it surprise you that "recycling" was promoted by industrial food companies as a way of pushing the responsibility for dealing with packaging waste onto local municipalities instead of having to take responsibility for how their products were packaged?

Drinks were always in glass before. Milk, too. Spring or mineral water was also in glass.

Packaging could either be much more durable or made from materials that were locally sourced and biodegradable or useful for other things. They also provided local work for people.

Moving to plastic further centralized, well, everything. And now, we're all nearly permanently doused in petrochemical hormone disruptors.
