These days, we try to buy only from local farmers/ranchers, imo its getting way too risky to eat the crap meat from grocery stores.

I stopped buying whole roast chooks when they switched to the plastic bags, it ruins the texture of the meat because they can't breathe, you get a bunch of liquid in the bottom of the bag that's mostly water from the steam condensing as soon as you take it out of the hot box. The weird thing is, bleach doesn't work on the same shit oven heat doesn't work on. There are literally 0 hazards known to science that get removed by dunking a chicken in bleach, but not baking it to its core in an oven.

Can't imagine what bleaching does to the meat. The birds diet being corn mixed with fortified corn syrup, they carefully calculate so the birds can survive long enough to be harvested, without the meat being nutritious. Then bleach is used to remove more nutrients.

Those roasters are also usually the animals that didn’t make the standard for use in other cuts or otherwise. Due to health or deformity.

industrial food prioritizes shelf-life over safety. the bleach dip extends sale windows, not nutrition. cooking from scratch is the only way to know what you're actually eating.
