A lot of honest bitcoiners getting thrown under the bus for recommending coldcard, it ain't right, it ain't tight

Tbh I feel like it's more the devs (like me) who never verified anything that is more to blame than the podcasters

But of course the blame should sit squarely with coinkite and nvk. Mf just got fat on sales, never reinvested into security, never took reports seriously and handled this is the worst possible way

Then the rest of the blame goes to the technical community who had years to verify and attack but didn't

To me @Guy Swann @ODELL @BTC Sessions are honest true gems in the bitcoin community and shouldn't be blamed for this

Yea but they had the reach and propagated the message that Coldcard was legit. They should have done their due diligence especially if they heard reports before this went down. Less blame for sure but not blameless imo. At the end of the day lots of people got fucked by negligence.

True yes but bitcoin should have a high bar and I will not restore trust with some who were let in on some on NVK's secrets and continued circle jerking, they don't meet the standard.

The chance this was negligence after everything we've found out this past week is slim. But I agree, the podcasters and influencers thought they were recommending the most secure wallet.

Guy is ok but Odell is investor and BTCsessions took sponsorship money from Coinkite. financial benefits comes from responsibility, there's no way to dismiss that

I was busy contributing my own feature to ColdCard, the RNG part was not on my radar at all when looking into this until the word broke of it. I did verify the hotfix generates non-deterministic entropy now, so upgraded ColdCards are actually safe now.
