Daughter graduated last year - it's a rough market out there. Told her to focus on networking, though that sounds a bit clinical.

Tough. Experience needed. Internships lead to positions. Willingness to work or grind out a "window period" is good but a lot of people take advantage of this and then never hire after the probation period ends. Give them some space to figure out, I mean even if they graduated in a specific field,...

Not sure if this is useful at all, lean on their problem solving capabilities, not specific skills, yes these will be listed somewhere, but really go to town on how the graduate can approach anything that is put in front of them. Everyone other applicant will have this degree, this experience, this ...

β€œ I’m sorry the world we left you is so fucked. β€œ seems to go a lot further than advice. Genuinely.

My single piece of advice for job hunting is that if all you ever do is drop applications through a corporate portal - you will never find a job. Every job I've ever gotten was through networking. Being in the right place at the right time.

sometimes taking a paycut is worth it as long as it will give him the experience or it will get his foot in the door. IMPORTANTLY, some companies do not know how to write job description and inflate/ridiculous experience so do not feel threaten and simply apply for it. Lastly, presentation, communic...
