It's hard to figure out what to do with abusive people's lies.
Sometimes exposing them as lies serves a purpose. I've been in situations where being a determined, extremely pedantic truth-seeker allowed me to expose an abuser's false pretense of innocence.
This doesn't really apply when the falsehood is out in the open, when anyone who cared to think about it could tell it's a lie. Then you are dealing with something else, something perhaps more insidious.
