@nprofile1q... i was testing my go-bwhero implementation with bandwidth hero addon just to see the BW colorspace.

i was mostly using it to save me some bandwidth (too bad, no wifi around me). It can be turned as non-grayscale as it has the toggle on it

Well, time to fix my instance rules a bit.

1. just upload the entire folder containing the emoji pics, with it's name (eg, pat.png)
2. some extensions may not get listed by default. You can adjust it via Admin-FE to make it list
3. if you add new emojis in a folder that already has pack.json, either you modify pack.json then reload, or remove pack.json and [Refresh local packs] on Admin-FE

tl;dr: emoji folder don't need pack.json. It will be made once you refresh

basically tarball the entire folder, upload the tarball to server, incus file push emotupdate.tgz akkoma/opt/akkoma/instance/static/emoji/, incus exec akkoma ash, go to the same dir i put, and extract as user akkoma (the folder got no pack.json)
