emergency pow changes just trade one set of asics for another. you lose the security of the hash power moat and end up with an altcoin. blake2b won't stop the 'cartel', it just resets it.

@Tauri | Bitcoin-BLAKE2b, @mleku This is exactly why I proposed the quantum upgrade because of guys like @shadowbip. Unfortunately, they represent the majority of bitcoiners now. You have to issue a new narrative that inspires them to switch over from JeffryCoin as, clearly, having a decentralized pleb controlled kitty porn resistant chain is of no value to them.

We don’t have to convince anyone. If we’re correct into assuming that things in Bitcoin-SHA256 are just going to get worse from now on, this means Bitcoin’s parabolic runs are over. There’s going to be a few pumps here and there, but you guys simply don’t understand: what the pools did on ...

quantum is a fast analog calculator. i doubt it will be a big lab that figures it out because superpostition is woo. electrons spin bazillions of times faster than they can move. shor's algorithm work...

I'm not a quantum physicist, but I do believe that's what the error correction obsession in quantum computing is about - to make a ergodicly nondeterministic system more deterministic using error correction. You have inspired me to do more research on the subject. Either way, there are already post-quantum cryptography standards such as kyber being alpha tested now. They *seem* to be more secure than sha-256 encryption so why not incorporate into bitcoin to give it the security boost even if quantum proves to be a fraud?

Consider the excitement factor. Quantum and the new Q proof blockchain would be evolving at the same time. Bitcoin would be the vanguard for proving and proofing this technology instead of lagging behind and having to play catch up after a severe breach of some kind. What better way to test a new technology than to throw it into a decentralized market place with large sums of money attached to it making for an extremely lucrative bug bounty? Just the publicity alone would attract more users than boring old corporate controlled corecoin. Q-day is defeated and the looming threat is slayed.

I don't think ignoring this issue is going to make it go away. It grows larger every day. We should, as the Americans say, "nip it in the bud" now so we don't have to worry about it later.

yeah, the real problem i see is the signatures are too big. i think if you could squish them down to 256 or smaller they might be reasonable. i've been experimenting with using a novel lattice, the loop-free tree structure bethe lattice (aka cayley tree) and the stage i have got to currently the com...

It is a scam. Taproot addresses are vulnerable, but no one uses them. If you always use unique addresses for your SegWit or Legacy UTXOs and never reveal your public keys, the quantum attack becomes p...

True. And what of the proof of work mining itself? A 51% attack becomes much more feasible when you are using Qbits to solve the puzzle instead of regular NAND gate transistors. Don't forget about the OGs that don't have segwit addresses and haven't moved their coins in years. They'll be the first targets.

I hope you're right. But I think it's best to err to caution. Besides, why waste a hard fork if not to improve bitcoin against future threats.? The optics alone would be enough to attract apathetic users stuck on core chain. I say offer them something instead of just a moral dilemma.

The idea of this fork is to normalise using a POW change in emergency scenarios (such as this one). It’s why we’re adopting the name Bitcoin-BLAKE2b, because this might not be the last time we might have to change the hashing algo. The goal is to bootstrap a more robust network, better prepared ...

It is a scam. Taproot addresses are vulnerable, but no one uses them. Thanks for a good show. 👍 Yeah we all expected bip110 to fail. I was some how hoping by some miracle they would succeed. I think a hard fork is not good for bitcoin and also I assume we would lo...

My thoughts exactly! Icing on the cake - if Luke and co took the time to make the new chain quantum proof. This would give them the upper hand above core chain and attract millions of new users, maybe even beating the main chain 🤔 Please pass this message on 🙏

SUGGESTION: Perhaps you should postpone the activation of a Bitcoin hard fork until you and company assert a quantum proof key generation and/or consensus algorithm. 2 birds 1 stone. This would provide extra incentive for miners and users to ditch legacy chain then switch over to the new fork. It is a problem everyone MUST solve in the future anyway and all expect to implement a massive change for it. Much luck!

The detractors of Bitcoin Core's OP_RETURN data increase often argue that it leaves the network vulnerable to spam, illegal content (kiddy pics) and fee bloating.

While these are all extremely valid concerns, they're missing the plot...

How do the proponents of Core's sabotage, who are spending billions of fiat notes to make it stick, gain from this change? None of the factors above benefit the large corporations who are against BIP-110. So what does?

Didn't the CEO of a giant asset management corp say he want's to impose the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)s like carbon credits on top of Bitcoin? Didn't he say he want's to "Force compliance"? I bet 100KB of OP_RETURN space would be a great place to put metadata about "carbon footprints" and "sustainably trusted sources" on every UTXO. This would allow the fascists to segregate bitcoin between "compliant" and "non-compliant" sats by using non transaction related data to tag them however they see fit. Maybe even with your identity? Then they come in with the kill - sanction all users of "non-compliant" bitcoin so they can disallow it from being spent. SET POINT! Corporate capture accomplished.

See the endgame? Run a BIP-110 node! #BitcoinIsMoney

Do you want centralized Corporate Coin or decentralized Bitcoin. The question is that easy. BIP-110! Let's fork it if we have to! I already know which chain I'm choosing and It won't be controlled by BlackRock.

Also self custody. Roll dice. Don't let them scare you.
