I think they were in a "don't ask for permission, ask for forgiveness" mode and mostly still are due to how it's worded "experimental." If their identities are linked, and some government thinks fund...

If their identities are linked, and some government thinks funds go through their system, then they can personally be in some sanctions list which is a major headache.

I don't like it but that's how the world works now.

2018-2019 was the worst bear market for me.

I had just begun to understand bitcoin as a money.

I didn't know if bcash would win. They certainly had good marketing.

Bitcoin had become a bad word outside the early adopters who barely undertood, like me, the thing they were holding.

This bear market is not that.

This afternoon I spoke with someone I worked closely with for many years during Bitcoin's preteen phase (2016-2021).

We both landed on Bitcoin feeling different: more mature.

We remembered when we'd go to fintech conferences and it was "blockchain not Bitcoin." The tables have flipped.

Today, the (both good and bad) big boys are playing.

In the Philippine setting, we have Binance seemingly side-stepping Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas by going through a sandbox with SEC. You've reportedly (honestly this isn't an extraordinary claim, and I heard it from 2 different people) got corrupt politicians escaping with BTC -- NOT USDT -- for fear of it being frozen.

It's not just a play thing anymore.
