You have no idea. That one is a traditional with whipped cream and strawberry compote on top. But we also made them with cocoa and filled with chocolate butter, and as cheddar/onion cornbread. The French would hang us for this, but we ain't French, dig?

From time to time, American weapons (and, alas, Americans) are expended in battles. Over the long term, however, most of the money we spend on defense is justified by its deterrent effect, and never actually takes the form of live fire.
And, as you point out, when we DO spend some of those assets in the field, it just means more of our tax dollars get used to cover the costs.
I just wonder what it would mean if half of our warbucks got spent on, you know, bike paths, or something.

I think I've got this figured out: Republicans support spending obscene amounts of public money on aircraft carriers, bombers, missiles, tanks, and other weapons that will almost all be scrapped without ever seeing battle, while opposing any and all public spending on healthcare, transit, education, food, or jobs.
I think I know now why they never feel like they get anything after paying high taxes.

This film (which has been "restored" multiple times. to the point where no one can be sure if any of them is true to the lost original) is a definitive component of my life. It may be the sole reason I am a fan of science fiction.
