Again, I want to be very clear: the enforced isolation was not remotely a safe situation for me.

Friends, consider a solid beam instead and then aim it to illuminate the road in front of you instead of the eyeballs of everyone in the region. I know it's hard to find non-blinding lights, so it may be that you need to put packing tape or some other semi transparent material over it or just point it down.
