This is the issue, most people don’t understand the distinction of proprietary vs. FOSS, so they can’t carry this understanding over into different domains, like money.

I second Inkscape and Lightburn. FreeCAD is also getting very mature. KiCAD is also not just for PCB design/layout tool, it also has a very capable 2d drawing tool that works well for getting things dimensionally accurate. It is a process to learn how to do it well, just like 3d printing. Being able to draw your own files is an excellent superpower to refine over time.

I enjoy it, it is keyboard-centric enough and the tiling is good enough to scratch my i3 itch. I don’t find myself fiddling with it. It just works, even in its infancy.

Nodes and mining used to be inseparable. With the advent of “hashing” with a pool, this thread is broken. Transactional privacy and full transactional sovereignty is great though.

Increased on-chain transactional privacy. Education. Being a good community member. Assisting the network that is assisting you. Those sorts of things. Come join in, it makes you a true citizen of Bitcoin with a small but important vote in the future direction of the network if you actively select your node software/upgrades.
