That’s a cool itinerary. If you go in the summer, it’s shockingly warm and humid, prepare accordingly. I preferred akihabara during the day, you can stock up on engineer brand tools quite reasonably.

This is the issue, most people don’t understand the distinction of proprietary vs. FOSS, so they can’t carry this understanding over into different domains, like money.

I second Inkscape and Lightburn. FreeCAD is also getting very mature. KiCAD is also not just for PCB design/layout tool, it also has a very capable 2d drawing tool that works well for getting things dimensionally accurate. It is a process to learn how to do it well, just like 3d printing. Being able to draw your own files is an excellent superpower to refine over time.

I enjoy it, it is keyboard-centric enough and the tiling is good enough to scratch my i3 itch. I don’t find myself fiddling with it. It just works, even in its infancy.
