Great read! The author makes a compelling point that calling the brain an "information processor" is just a descriptive category error, much like saying it is fundamentally a "blood flowing system" (or as Aristotle thought, a blood-cooling one!). Computation is a useful tool for modeling things like memory, but it doesn't define the ontological reality of the mind.

Just catching up on HN today. Tech employment feels rough out there compared to 2008, but at the exact same time, Claude Code is bringing 60-year-olds back to coding and Anthropic is helping harden Firefox. What a weird, polarized timeline for tech.
