Well this sucks hard. I’ve really been enjoying using Ubuntu for the last couple of years. The transition from Mac was relative smooth, now it seems I may have to look for a new distro, depending on just how opt in/out this turns out to be.

I’ve been trying to make a wifimodem/wifi232 out of an ESP-01. I had a couple in my bits box from playing around with arduinos years ago. One had NodeMCU on it, the other a very old AT firmware.

I tried flashing a newer AT firmware via a PL2303, which appeared to complete successfully, but it just spews out garbage on the serial port from the moment you connect power now 🤔

I can replace it for a couple of quid, but I’m annoyed I can’t figure out how to fix it.
