We worship efficiency, personal success, money, and none of those are transcending the ego in the way these monumental structures do

Interestingly, the idea of God under organised religion does create some of the most beautiful art across cultures. It is honestly a little bit depressing if not humbling that that is the case. Goes to prove that human are deeply fallible as a society, and that masses do indeed are alike sheep.
