On my last flight, I read Jessica Valenti's Abortion book. https://www.jessicavalenti.com/abortion-book

It's a great read and I encourage everyone to stop the christian nationalism behind the current anti-woman and anti-choice laws sweeping the #USA.

Don't worry #men, they will come for you next.

#abortion #pro-choice #rationalhealth #BodyAutonomy.

Went out to eat tonight. Restaurant only has #qrcodes no actual menus. OK whatever. It's a black and gray qrcode on a black shiny leather stand on the table. Took forever to scan it.

Next, my qr scan app let's me see it before opening a browser tab. Why does the URL end in .de for a #SanFrancisco restaurant? Its a Japanese place as well.

OK, moving on. Load the website, "access denied" and some long #clownflare "ray id".

Try again. Still denied.

Show waitress, she rolls eyes and hands me a tablet. The tablet has the PDF of the menu as the only thing on the screen. Open it up. Like ten Adobe ads popup. Ugh.

We're not done. Still haven't ordered yet.

While poking at tablet, notice it's on the " POS" WiFi network. Look at browser history. It helpfully has admin panel link to the point of sale system. Choose it. Up pops the admin console and browser asking to autofill credentials. Uhh...

Waitress comes over to take order. Swipe back to menu and order. She then takes the tablet to another table.

After eating and getting the bill, I take out #cash, because no way am I giving them a credit card with that tablet on same WiFi. Waitress says they don't take cash, only tap and pay. Tell her I only have cash. Manager comes over and takes the cash.

As I'm leaving overhear manager say, "second time today someone doesn't have a card and like tenth time tonight they can't use the qrcode."

Fun times.

We're now hitting the computational milestones expected from various charts from over a decade ago. These trends have been on track. Most of us still don't have robot vacuums since they still kind of...

Some of us don't have a robot vacuum because we couldn't imagine the ad-serving, data-vacuuming hell hole that is current #IoT all those years ago. And we refuse to participate in utter BS systems. None of this insecure crap needs to be connected to the internet. Any real #AI system can operate #offline forever. #optout of BS, demand actual technology progress, not business model optimization in how fast everything can be #enshittfied.
