Probably one of the most significant things that has made me feel pretty good about myself is getting noticed in a good way in public. Though I know not what to do when someone calls me cute, it happens more often than it used to. Both masc and fem presenting individuals too. I have achieved conventional attractiveness.

It shouldn't matter much and it doesn't in the grand scheme, but still feels good.

It's mostly uncontroversial to say that all death is a non-positive thing. It's a bit more controversial to say that all death is a bad thing. But whichever of these you posit, if either, you eventually get to the conclusion that the death penalty is not a good thing. This said, there's a breakdown somewhere there, because there seems to be a lot of people that care about life and hate death, but then also think...well, actually the death penalty is okay for some.

Don't get me wrong, I reckon with my beliefs on the death penalty as well and have them internally questioned, but I also realize questioning them is the same as questioning the reasoning that led me there.

I believe we should abolish the death penalty, because it's tantamount to admitting, actually, some people can't get better, which feels icky to me.

Don't get me started on how the American prison system is designed to "prove" people can't get better.

I just saw a YouTube video that said "So she used self-rising flour. It was very popular at the time and still is in England. But if you live in the US [...] it might be hard to find." and I'm like??? There are two types of flour at the Aldi. A pallet of self-rising and a pallet of all purpose. Walmart has way more choice, but there's still a huge amount of self-rising flour. Self-rising is pink. All purpose is blue. It's not hard to find, and it's universally colour coded (at least locally).

@nprofile1q... That's completely reasonable and I completely respect that. I have no intentions to carry the firearm (..partially because I think I'd look silly carrying a shotgun everywhere). Just to keep it by my bed like my parents. Theirs has never been used...they should probably shoot it occasionally.

Thank you for pointing me the right direction!

And of course. I have no kids and I don't consider my cat to be a threat. If and when I have kid(s), I'll have a safe and what-not. I don't like guns, but if other people will exercise their right to have one, I think it best if I do as well, on some minimal scale. Shotgun so I hardly have to aim, but longer range than a metal baseball bat.

Hello fedi. Specifically US-based fedi. Where can I buy a shotgun anymore? My local Walmarts stopped carrying them apparently except for one that's over 2 hours away. Dick's stopped selling them. Gander Mountain isn't a thing anymore. I really don't want to go to a gun shop. I just want one of those dirt cheap, simple, 100-150 buck shotguns to keep for self defense reasons...assuming I pass the Form 4473 (no reason I shouldn't, but you never know).

I waited too long to buy a gun.

But yes, core thing, where can I buy a gun that's not a dedicated gun shop anymore? Is there anywhere?

I have non-stick cookware, mostly because it was cheaper than stainless when I moved out. I cook very gently, typically on low heat, but very long. I also use oil in my non-stick which I know isn't super necessary for most of what I use my small skillet for (eggs, sausage, maybe rice), but it's how I was raised because I didn't grow up with good proper non-stick, and also, it helps eggs cook a little better and more evenly.

Anyways, all this as background to some more background: it's about a year old now, and it's a 29.99 set from Walmart, so its getting some damage and things are sticking, but I use oil.

In the process, since I cook somewhat low, very long, and with oil in the pan, some oil burns to the pan. It's normal. Most of it comes off, because it's non-stick, but some of it sticks to the material itself. Without a highly basic soap, it won't come off.

So...I have seasoned non-stick.

I would throw them out and replace them. Also, oil...
