What’s the difference between today’s world and that of say … 1996?
I think it may have to do with access to too much information and ease of communication with others. This can presents a more complex and potentially dangerous world for kids. In 1996, danger presented itself mainly in the physical world but now there is the online / virtual world to be vigilant about.
I grew up largely without parental controls. And I think I’m fine.
Are parents today overly protective?
I have little ones, and I think we are. My wife and I had minimal supervision growing up also and we turned out ok. Is the present approach by parents though a necessary response to our / their world?
