This is, without a doubt, the WORST thing EFTPOS could do. This is nothing more than a method of forced personal data gathering and forcing people to buy a phone they don't want, and I WON'T take part in it.
NOBODY should have to give over their biometric data to make a purchase.
To say it'll "reduce the burden on frontline staff and the risk of human error" is just a bullshit way of saying "we've dumbed down people so much that retail staff don't know how to function in their job capacity anymore".
I would rather deal with a worker who's made a mistake than the aftermath of my details being stolen or used by any Tom, Dick, or Harry with hacking knowledge.
NOBODY needs an AI programme on a machine to capture your face or fingerprint to purchase the necessities (or indeed, the luxuries) for life!
