I'm way late here, but this usually means either your selected propagation node was unreachable, or that you don't have one set. The delivery method is one of opportunistic, direct, and propagation. These are defined by LXMF.

LXMF does not notify the sender when the recipient actually receives a propagation message. You are only notified when your message is accepted by the propagation node

I have noticed this too, even on other clients, but it does seem to happen more frequently with Columba.

It seems related to path request. If you have heard a node announce since you started the app, and the node is still online, it always works from my experience. If you haven't heard an announce from that node, Columba requests a path to the node from the network

The response for the path request has been inconsistent for me during development and I wasn't sure if it was a network issue on my end. But since it's happening to you too, well, I guess I have more debugging to do ;)

Do you mean from the propagation node or from the nomad node? The reason I ask is because I was pulling nomadnet nodes out of the announced stream and trying to load them. And sometimes, as I said, it would be rather fast. Sometimes it would be slow, and sometimes it wouldn't load at all.

#Reticulum nerds, is there any danger in adding too many interfaces to #MeshChat or #Columba?

Generally speaking, if you have transport enabled, the more interfaces connect, the more data can pass through your node. In practice, traffic passes through your node when it's the fastest path to a given destination, or when you are rebroadcasting announces.

So on Columba in particular (or anything you're running directly on your phone) you may want to be mindful of this while using mobile data, if you have usage limits

Hey! BLE interface dev here. The whole goal of it was for people to use the hardware they already have in their pocket (smartphone with BLE). Bitchat was an inspiration. Now that #Reticulum has #RRC, I'm quite tempted to make a nice app for that as well...
