@nprofile1q... I don't think you're wrong, but I also don't think those questions ever get answered during wartime. Wars are like ongoing police investigations writ large--nobody who knows things is going to actually talk to the press and give them info that could be exploited by the other side.

Apropos of nothing, if you think a declining birth rate inherently means economic collapse, you're probably racist whether you know it or not.

Human migration is a great solution to a declining domestic birth rate, if you live in a capitalist economy that demands constant growth.

We don't have to make more babies. We don't have to burn the earth to power the world's biggest autocomplete. We could just let people move where they want and give them jobs.

@nprofile1q... this is making me think of how like most people understand society as a big monolithic structure, like a giant company with lots of rules and policies. They can't quite wrap their head around the idea that society *could* be a bunch of teeny tiny companies no bigger than a family. How does that work? Well, all those teeny tiny companies talk and figure it out in their teeny tiny local contexts.
