Back in 1986 when I was 16 I went around and applied, my parent had no involvement... I got a job at KFC... As they say, may we live in interesting times when your mom...
I’m with you, but I was also16 in1986. I had kids late in life and I am homeschooling mine as well (ages 8 & 9). My one goal is to ensure they understand self-sovereignty and critical thinking.
Both of my kids wanted to make extra money this summer. I gave them ideas, but I’m not doing it for them. They ended up selling a bunch of their stuff on eBay. I let them use my eBay account, but they had to research how to create a listing and how to price their stuff. At first my son wanted to charge $100 for his old baseball cleats (worth maybe $20) - but soon learned the price was too high when no one bought them.
It was a great lesson in market economics, supply & demand, revenue, expenses, etc. not to mention it got rid of a bunch of their stuff.
Kids will surprise you if you give them the latitude to make some of their own decisions.

Most people’s instinct is to swat at a bee (or wasp) if it comes near them. This one was flying around the pool today looking for a refreshment on a hot dry Texas afternoon. Just needed a little drink. Slurping up the water on my hand. Wet hair is also an opportunistic way for them to get water. Although I’ll be the first to admit it’s a learned skill (20 years keeping bees) to stay calm when a bee is buzzing around your head.
I like dandelions. They’re beautiful and edible. I don’t understand people who poison their soil to get rid of them. Just mow them if you don’t like them.

Dandelions actually help correct imbalances in soil. Their long tap root will penetrated compacted soils and will bring nutrients, especially calcium to the upper layers of the soil. If you see an abundance of dandelions it’s often indicative of compacted soil that is low in calcium.
