Because we can't fix what we're not aware of if people don't post issues and sorry if I sound rude but the point of Expert is to be done with several LSP implementations. What you just mentioned is one of the many reasons why Expert has the architecture it has.

If you compile the epmd module with elixirc and elixir or iex in the same directory as the .beam file, it works.

Did you know if you use `--erl "-epmd_module Some.Module"` and `--sname` or `--name` when launching elixir in a mix project the VM will spectacularly crash with no obvious reason why?
It will try to start distribution before modules are loaded, so it will give you an error about the epmd module not existing because modules haven't been loaded yet at that stage.
If you skip the --name or --sname flags and manually start distribution with Node.start everything works
