important to note that all the current headlines about NEETs, especially erroneously connecting their worklessness to PIP*, are coming out precisely as the call for evidence for the Timms Review of PIP has closed and the Review is about to take place. the government has also frequently used PR firms to seed press stories to prejudice public opinion ahead of policy changes.

*only 4% of NEETs claim PIP, which is a benefit that often assists disabled people to work

i don't expect there's a top-down bbc policy of not platforming greens, but its internal culture of conservativism has trained all of its journalists to instinctively feel that it would be kind of weird to do so, sort of like interviewing a dog

bbc: henry zeffman: "green victory shows insurgent parties are here to stay". not really though, does it? it shows the greens are popular and "here to stay". labour support dropped enough to fall below reform's relatively low result - reform didn't surge. even when the greens win, bbc wants reform to win too.

80s nostalgia is heavily uncle-coded now imo. zoomers aren't going to watch that. stranger things just barely scraped through the extreme tail end of that trend.
