How do you like those pear varieties and what zone are you in?

I recommend them highly...a few minutes per year pruning and mulching is all there is to it.
If you plant a 4-5ft whip sapling, expect first real harvest after 3 years - 30-40 pears per tree, maybe 20# of fruit per tree, after 5 years 50# per tree...8 hours direct sun is best but they will still produce with 5 minimum

Very low maintenance for fruit trees...might need some fungicide if you have cedars nearby for fireblight (about the only thing they are susceptible to)

USDA 7b
All the pears are disease and pest resistant (birds are the biggest pest) all need 300-400 chill hours (<40F)

Easiest: Shenseiki -- self fertile, earliest production (late July-August) and heavy producer...storage they are good for about 2-3 weeks in the fridge

Tastiest: Hosui -- soft texture and very sweet honey flavor, stores about a month as well -- best planted with another variety for bigger fruit and larger yeild, but partially self-fertile...late Aug

best storage: Shinko (2 months+) late September harvest, firmer texture...really wants a co-polinator of a different variety -- one of mine bloomed way before anything else and has basically no fruit this year

I think in person would be better. Kind of a whiney sounding instrument, at least when it goes on and on
