I have been reading the Redwall books by Brian Jacques. They are cozy--to a point. Half of the books are little mice making sumptuous feasts, fussing over seating arrangements, solving riddles and improvising poetry, and the other half is brutal siege warfare.

I was curious about getting ebooks onto a classic iPod.

Could it be done? Yes! I would begin by adapting my gempub-generating script to export TXT files. I would have to export chapters in segments if they got longer than 4000 characters, this was a limit of the iPod's notes feature.

I don't think I'll pursue it further, though. Scrolling text on my old clickwheel iPod has a very rough afterimage effect. I wouldn't want to read anything book-length on it.

I had never seen Cheers before tonight. I have to say, yes, it was funny, and the writing was solid, but it also *looked* really good. It looked like it was shot on 35mm film, and that was a smart choice. High-definition is not always kind to older sitcoms, but Cheers looked great on the bedroom HDTV.

I was thinking of some romantic movies I enjoy, and none of them are quite HEA.

But then I remembered the ending of The Shawshank Redemption. More of a friendship movie, but the bond between Red and Andy is as vital as any romantic relationship. Damn, I get emotional even thinking about that ending. That's an HEA ending if there ever was one.
