@bloomtime!

Walking, reading, riding San Francisco and actively hoping towards a better world.
I know just enough to get in trouble in far too many fields cuz I'm usually reading. Flower fan.
Therapy is hard to get, sometimes I vent here, sorry if it bothers you, but the personal is political and I stay real. also speculative. determine which is which at your own risk.

@nprofile1q... I tend to think this is very lumped in with normative supremacist attitudes generally - they have a concept of what is normal and deviation from that, even when it's a whole generation(or culture, language, whatever), is considered a negative. Even when it's something that would seem like a positive if it was a different type of the same group!

I remain amazed at my ability to misplace things. I swear I was just on a phone call, set down my phone and checked my email... and now I can't find my phone. It's not even a cluttered spot! I'm sitting at my kitchen table!

@nprofile1q... individualist and culturally myopic - because depending on how you define anarchic there have been plenty of variously anarchic societies and cultures they could look at. So that feels sufficient - like it has existed, so of course it can exist.
Like I don't know what it feels like to live in a big family with siblings - there's parts of the sibling life experience I just can't imagine or perform - but I can see that people exist within them, and in some ways it seems more comfortable and advantageous and some ways less so than my experience as an only child.

My entry in #carryshitolympics for the day - 3 patio chairs, a 5 x 7 outdoor rug, 2 cacti(in one pot) and a dog bone.
Tools used: 1 Orbea Diem bike with pizza plate front rack and back rack, 1 Ortlieb pannier, 1 bungee cord.

@nprofile1q... Yes, so much this! I was talking to a friend and explaining how roads are designed to be safe at higher speeds than the speed limit and this is visually apparent, so drivers drive faster and get tickets and like all of a sudden he started getting it about how streets designed like this screw everyone... And it's like from a very different point of view, but yeah spreading the gospel of fixing the underlying infrastructure rather than policing the behavior...

@nprofile1q... yeah I remember learning this for the first time as part of basic management strategy.
If you plan your future in a way that assumes you or your team gives 100% all the time, that means literally any disruption will bring cascading larger disruptions and delays.
Your "best" should be restorative and sustainable - your "emergency capacity" is an entirely different thing. If your environment makes you feel/expects you to act like you're in an emergency all the time, that's a problem that needs larger fixes.

@nprofile1q... so much this.
I also read that oxytocin release & mechanisms of love show we are much better adapted to "loving being needed" than "loving the person you need". Like showing someone you need them and that you value the care they take of you is one of the biggest ways to make them feel better.
