Most people don't realize that he was no 'innovator,' but is really the great 'summari'er' of what the majority of Protestants were teaching in his time. Richard Muller has done great work here, as did Paul Helm.

I.e. reformers treat his work as gospel, Catholics would hold him in higher regard if he was Catholic - the truth is somewhere in the middle. IMO
