Yes, there is ONE God. The Catholic Credo says it: β€œCredo in UNUM DEUM, Patrem omnipotentem”, β€œI believe in ONE GOD, almighty Father”. We say that every day, in every prayer, at every mass.

When Jesus says to the Jews: β€œBefore Abraham was, I AM”, compare that to what God is telling to Moses in Exodus 3:14: β€œGod said to Moses: I AM WHO AM. He said: Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel: HE WHO IS, hath sent me to you.”

Can you explain to me why Jesus speaks to the Jews like God spoke to Moses? And why the Jews tried to Stone Him to death just after He told that?

Jesus Christ Himself says that He is God:

β€œJesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me. If you had known me, you would without doubt have known my Father also: and from henceforth you shall know him, and you have seen him.

Philip saith to him: Lord, shew us the Father, and it is enough for us. Jesus saith to him: Have I been so long a time with you; and have you not known me?

Philip, he that seeth me seeth the Father also.

How sayest thou, shew us the Father?

Do you not believe, that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?

The words that I speak to you, I speak not of myself. But the Father who abideth in me, he doth the works.

Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?β€œ β€” John 14:7-11

Painting: β€œSaint John the Baptist Bearing Witness”, Annibale Carracci (1605)

β€œAnd this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites to him, to ask him: Who art thou? And he confessed, and did not deny: and he confessed: I am not the Christ. And they asked him: What then? Art thou Elias? And he said: I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered: No.

They said therefore unto him: Who art thou, that we may give an answer to them that sent us? What sayest thou of thyself? He said: I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaias. And they that were sent, were of the Pharisees. And they asked him, and said to him: Why then dost thou baptize, if thou be not Christ, nor Elias, nor the prophet? John answered them, saying: I baptize with water; but there hath stood one in the midst of you, whom you know not. The same is he that shall come after me, who is preferred before me: the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to loose. These things were done in Bethania, beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.” (John 1:19-28)
