I'm not really a Fedora zealot... Ubuntu is probably a better base for most things. I pretty much use it because they tend to be at the head of the line of new desktop features. First it was BTRFS support, and lately it's been things like TPM-based filesystem encryption with measured boot.

I actually like rolling-based distros as a concept, but I wish nix/arch had a "stable" rolling channel like Gentoo does. Gosh, I might be talking myself into installing Gentoo again.

They still use RPM, but the tools managing it have improved vastly. The package manger is all DNF now, including on newer versions of RHEL.

And for the majority of userspace applications, I'm either using Flatpak or AppImage which are distro agnostic.,so that's not really a fedora thing. I use them on my NixOS laptop too.

I don't have any good experience with Arch. In particular the AUR doesn't seem well executed, and I tried it after spending so much time with Gentoo overlays.

for what it's worth, I am in complete agreement with @Dave on the podcast <-> feed identity structure. We've been talking about it for years, and we even talked about it the last time I was on the show.

He's merely modeling reality, and that's a data structure problem. Noticing friction because of a bad data structure is just how we got here.

We've been dancing around the issue in the namespace ever since we added the podcast:guid tag.
