Now the bank's app knows what other apps you have and demands that you delete them 😂. But it's the system we deserve; we've allowed it. https://blossom.primal.net/d72281d19a1426f65cfb535c54a5816e...

Android still allows apps to detect what other apps are installed? That's as much an OS problem as an app problem, assuming you didn't have to consent to some kind of device management profile first.

It's not unreasonable that an app developer would flag a sideloaded version of a password manager. It likely points to problems far more often than it points to people enacting extra-strong security controls or doing legitimate local builds. But it's not reasonable if the OS enables this capability by default.

Any idea what else they accused him of?

https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/founders-samourai-wallet-cryptocurrency-mixing-service-plead-guilty says they plead guilty to "operating a money transmitting business that transmitted crime proceeds, washing more than $200 million in dirty money for criminals"

5 years is the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. They could have faced the same even if they did it on paper at that scale.

The number of Nostr sites and clients affected by the Cloudflare outage? A little surprising. Please don’t do that.

Primal does not actually read from the relays you use, ever. It only uses their proxy for writes. And it shows every relay as connected even if it fails when it is enabled. About relays, nostr.land ...

In my testing, I don’t have the same problem with all Nostr clients. It’s something unique to the combination of Primal without its privacy proxy enabled and VPN clients. I’ve tried multiple privacy VPNs and multiple Nostr clients. Primal’s web and mobile apps are both affected. And iOS and multiple Chromium-based desktop browsers are affected. (Not tested other browsers yet.) No clear causal mechanism - traffic just stops after a while.

Primal’s “privacy proxy” only connects to relays once you broadcast. Otherwise it lies to you. What is most likely happening is Primal doesn’t send anything to relays, only writes. And so relays see these connections as inactive and close them

ProtonVPN seems to make a lot of relays unhappy. Using Primal's anonymizing proxy is an okay workaround, but I'm curious about the problem. Is it Proton's lack of Windows and macOS IPv6 support? Or do many relays block VPN traffic?
