"Hello to the entire Nostr and Agora community. I am a final-year Computer Engineering student and a Venezuelan activist for human rights in the digital era. Today, I am reaching out to you regarding a critical emergency.
Following the recent devastating earthquakes, I have been working tirelessly in the disaster zone alongside my university's rescue teams to save as many lives as possible, especially in La Guaira, the most severely affected area.
However, as an IT specialist, I quickly realized a barrier that is costing lives: a total lack of connectivity.
In La Guaira, there is no electricity, let alone cellular service.
This absolute blackout makes it impossible for rescue teams, doctors, volunteers, and the victims themselves to communicate or coordinate relief efforts.
La Guaira has over 100 shelters, and at least half of them remain in a total information blackout, with no internet access whatsoever.
We are doing the absolute best we can, but the road ahead is incredibly long. That is why it is crucial to gather as much support as possible from this community. The funds raised in this campaign will go entirely toward purchasing more
Starlink antennas to connect the most vulnerable shelters and streamline rescue operations.
In the midst of a tragedy, information and communication save lives. Every zap and contribution counts! ⚡️"
