My husband and I went to see Project Hail Mary this afternoon.

I loved the book. The movie was a great disappointment. To anyone who hasn't read the book it will be an even worse movie.

In short, whether you've read the book or not, my recommendation is to wait for it to come to cable.

We were both masked, of course, despite the theater policy of not allowing masks. And we had no trouble, except for the couple who decided they HAD to sit right next to us. 😒

I have high hopes for Rivian. I want US-grown EVs, so I'm rooting for Rivan, Lucid and Slate.

I was initially excited by Rivian's e-bike spin-off, ALSO. But now I see they're going to be using the bike to roll out features tied to a monthly or yearly subscription. Hard no from me. I'm done paying subscriptions for anything I "buy".

Ma Po tofu might be my favorite meal ever, when it's done right. My whole face is vibrating.

The fact that the administrator/owner of one of the biggest instances on the Fediverse has to ask people for help to get to his next paycheck is unconscionable.

I've said it before, and this is going to be my last word on it. With 11,000 users on that instance, if everyone gave $1 monthly, he could do it full-time.

Some do give support. But there are too many parasites. Someday he'll be forced to pull the plug.

Out of nowhere, both my Amazon Echo Dot Maxes have stopped working. Attempts to get a refund go nowhere.

I'm not going to replace them. Fuck Amazon.

I imagine some software update borked them.
