Updated immich [1] to the newest version but becoming less enthusiastic about it. It does a lot of things that I don't need and the things I do need are rather unintuitive. Thinking of switching to a simpler alternative. And no, NextCloud isn't one. Tried that too, same problem. But that's just me. I really just need a system that accepts whatever pix I throw at it, sorts them by date and gives me some simple ways to create and sync albums across devices.

It took less than two years for a lot of good developers that could work with a laptop and a few containers or VMs without internet connection to turn into coding zombies that are addicted to centralised "AI" coding agents and getting the shakes when their connection to those services goes down. #SarcasmButOnlyHalf This is frightening to me. Energy companies really hate solar and wind. They love nuclear and fossil fuels. Why? Renewables can be deployed in decentralised ways. That hurts their bottom line as they get reduced to taking care of distribution through their grids. But they want to control the input, not the distribution. They have focused on centralising electricity generation. That way they can simply make more money. That's why they oppose or actively try to fight microgrid solutions. Decentralisation is bad for them.

The conservatives in the EU parliament, led by Manfred Weber, together with the far right, voted FOR drastic measurements against refugees. That was more important than to please the Big Corporations and the forces that want to destroy privacy so #ChatControl was avoided for the moment (but it is not gone). That's the TL;DR.
