Is there any reason that still exists today for RSS feeds to have both the <description> and <content:encoded> tags at the item level?
From my experience there is never any difference between the content in these tags.
Does anyone know of apps / services that have a specific use case for different content in each tag?

I haven’t made a final decision on this - that’s why I’m posting here.
I’m also trying to create less work for myself and simplify the Fountain codebase which will improve other aspects of reliability around music.
I guess my real question is - what are the currently used demu tools and what are their reasons for not supporting publisher feeds?

The goal of the publisher feed for music is to allow apps like Fountain to canonically link multiple albums to the same artist - so that listeners can go from track > album > artist > other album > other track. This is basic UX for a music player and is not possible without the publisher feed that represents the artist.
For this reason Fountain will most likely stop indexing new music feeds that do not have a publisher feed.

one other question - do you know if the album feeds without publisher feeds are old ones - and now most of the tools supporting music publishing do create publisher feeds?
or do most of the demu solutions still not create publisher feeds by default?

Do you have a sense of how many music feeds there are without a corresponding artist publisher feed?
I am working on re-doing some of our music indexing logic and excluding music feeds without publisher remote items would make things much simpler.
From my perspective having an album feed without a publisher feed doesn't really make sense but maybe I'm excluding a lot of music?
